Ron had a young son, Randy, who loved baseball.  He wanted to throw and play catch with his dad every night. The problem was Ron’s shoulder was hurting more and more especially with throwing a ball.  He began to worry about if he would be able to play baseball with his son in the future, and that he would let his son down. Ron had been to our office before for treatment of lower back pain.  He was hoping we could do something to help with his shoulder.  We did a thorough history and examination and determined he had a shoulder anterior impingement syndrome.  This is one of the most common conditions that affect the shoulder.  Based on Ron’s findings and his goals we outline a short concise treatment program of 2 visits a week for 3 weeks.  We outlined the treatments we were going to do and some home recommendations that he must follow. After three short weeks he was back throwing a ball with his son.  He still had a little pain but it was nothing like what it was like before.  He also notice a greatly improve shoulder range of motion and movement.  We felt confident that with some specific home exercises to his shoulder we could get Ron to be complete pain free and keep this condition from returning.  While doing his home exercises and a couple “tuneups” in this office Ron was pain free. Ron’s son plays on a baseball team with the son of a famous pitcher from the Philadelphia Phillies and they were invited up to the locker room and to see a game.  So who knows maybe one day we will get to see Randy play pro baseball.
